Student Success Statement

“Honesty is the cornerstone of character. The honest man or woman seeks not merely to avoid criminal or illegal acts, but to be scrupulously fair, upright, fearless in both action and expression. Honesty pays dividends both on dollars and in peace of mind.

-     B.C Forbes

(A Scottish financial journalist and author who founded Forbes Magazines).

This statement is saying that honesty is very important and the key to everything. You will go far in life when you’re always honesty. Being honest will show others that you’re a person who can be trusted. It doesn’t matter if you will get rewarded for saying the truth but you should do it because is the best thing to do and your conscience would be clear with nothing to worry about.

Student Success Statement

“You have only always to do what is right. It will become easier by practice, and you enjoy in the midst of your trials the pleasure of an approving conscience.”

-     Robert E. Lee

This statement is saying that if you always choose the right things would go easier. Every time you are in a situation you will know what the right thing is to do because you always choose the right. And you won’t have anything to regret because your conscience would be clear. For example, if you decided to steal something from the store your conscience would feel guilty. The right thing to do is to take the item you back to the store and pay for it.

Student Success Statement

“I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our consciences and posterity.”

-         Robert E. Lee

This quote is saying that it doesn’t matter if you suffer when you are doing the right thing because it for a good cause. You’re not suffering for doing something that is bad. For example, if you find a dog and you feel like it’s yours. You would want to keep it but that not the right thing to do. If you give it back to the owner if you find it then you will suffer a little but it’s okay because you are doing the right thing.

“Choosing the right is always the right thing to do.”

-         Alex Linares

Choosing the right is not only the right thing to do but it’s very important. When you do the right things you feel good and won’t hold any regrets. Your conscience will also be clear. For example, if you had to choose between going out or doing your homework. The right thing to do is to stay home and do your obligations.

Student Success Statement

“You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is Impossible.”

-Ezra T. Benson

This statement means that it’s impossible for someone to feel good after doing something that was wrong. When you do something bad you usually feel bad and you keep thinking about what you did, you don’t have a clear conscience.

Student Success Statement

“There is no pillow so soft as a clear conscience”

-French Proverb

Reflection: This statement is saying that when you do something right then your conscience will be clear. When you don’t do what is right you’re going to feel guilty and your conscience would not be clear. You’re going to be able to relax, you will always think about the bad things you have done.
