Student Success Statement

“We need the courage to start and continue what we should do, and the courage to stop what we shouldn’t do”

Richard L. Evans

This statement means that we shouldn’t be afraid to make our own decisions. If your peers are giving you bad advice , don’t listen to them and have the courage to stand up for yourself.

Student Responsibilities

Part 3

What is important to you is that you, as you start to reach milestone in your ambitions, you appreciate your own achievements. Is it a boost, of course if others appreciate what you have done too, but appreciating yourself will strengthen your self-belief, and reinforce your determination to succeed.

Some of the key characteristics you will find in those who are successful are perseverance, prepared to research, plan and work hard, practice a lot and even when things do not seem to be going well, and an ability to recover and learn from setbacks. At the outset of whatever it is you are trying to succeed in, a strong vision of your future, planning, and setting yourself achievable  targets can all play an important role.

If you feel you do not naturally have all those characteristics, then do not despair. Each of them can be accomplished by your own application. You can use meditation and visualization techniques to initiate your vision, and they can certainly be learnt both for that purpose and for each step you take to reach your goals. Setting goals and objectives can be a personal or business technique that can be learnt. You can develop inner strength to succeed if you apply yourself to doing just that; that will enable you to recover from setbacks more easily.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!!

Student Success Statement

“My basic principle is that you don’t make decisions because they are easy; you don’t make them because they are cheap; you don’t make them because they’re popular; you make them because they’re right.”

Theodore Hesburgh

This statement means that every time you make a decision you must think what is right first before you act. Some decisions are harder to make but you must choose wisely. It doesn’t matter how valuable the decisions are, what matters is to always choose what is right.

Student Success Statement

“Decisions Determine Destiny”

Thomas S. Monson

This statement means that the decisions you make will impact your future. There is different kind of decisions some might be easy and some will be hard but the most important thing is to choose the right decisions.

Successful Students

Part 2

4.  Successful students learn that a student and a teacher make a team. Most teachers want exactly what you want: they would like for you to learn the material in their respective classes and earn a good grade.

Successful students reflect well on the efforts of any teacher; if you have learned your material, the instructor takes some justifiable pride in teaching. Join forces with your instructor, they are not an enemy, you share the same interests, the same goals- in short, you’re teammates. Get to know your professor. You’re the most valuable on the same team. Your jobs are to work together for mutual success. Neither wishes to chalk up a losing season. Be a team player!

5. Successful students don’t sit in the back. Successful students minimize classroom distractions that interfere with learning. Students want the best seat available for their entertainment dollars, but willingly seek the worst seat for their educational dollars. Students who sit in the back cannot possibly be their teachers teammate (see no.4) why

Five Keys to Success are:

1.   Be Trustworthy

2.   Be Polite

3.   Try your best

4.   Be a good citizen

5.   Work hard

Student Success Statement

“I am not bound to win, but I am bound to be true. I must stand with anybody that stands right, and stands with him while he is right, and part with him when he goes wrong.”

-        Abraham Lincoln

I believe this statement means that it doesn’t matter if you win in life or not what matters is that you always stay true to yourself. Choosing the right people will lead you to a better and successful life.

Successful Students

Part 1

Successful students exhibit a combination of successful attitudes and behaviors as well as intellectual capacity. Successful students

1.     Successful students are responsible and active. Successful students get involved in their studies, accept responsibility for their own education, and are active participants in it

Responsibility means control. It’s the difference between leading and being led. Your own efforts control your grade, you earn the glory or deserve the blame, you make the choice. Active classroom participation improves grades without increasing study time. You can sit there, act bored, daydream, or sleep. Or. You can actively listen, think, question, and take notes like someone in charge of their learning experience. Either option costs one class period. However, the former method will require a large degree of additional work outside if class to achieve the same degree of learning the latter provides at one sitting. The choice is yours.

“Great beauty, great strength, and great riches are really and truly of no great use; a right heart exceeds all.”

This statement means that materialistic items are not important as your personality is. Materialistic items can be taken away from you easily and your personality will always be in you.

Characteristics of a Successful Student

Many students do not know what it takes to be successful in the educational environment. They understand good and bad grades in a general way, and they sense that they should attend classes, but that is where their knowledge begins and ends.

Most instructors know what a good student is – and is not. For one thing, a good student is not necessarily the most intelligent individual in the class.

The following is a list of some characteristics of good students. This list is a description of what a hard-working student does and what a teacher likes to see. By learning these characteristics, you may better understand the day-to-day and class-to-class behavior of successful students. The idea is to provide with guidelines you can follow which will help you get down to the business of becoming a serious, successful student.

1.     Successful students attend classes regularly. They are on time. They listen and train themselves to pay attention. If they miss a session, they feel obligated to let the instructor know why before class begins, if possible, and their excuses are legitimate and reasonable. They make sure they get all missed assignments (by contacting the instructor or another student), and understands specifically what was covered in class. Successful students take responsibility for themselves and their actions.

46. Their career is not their identity, it’s their job. It’s not who they are, it’s what they do.

47. They are more interested in effective than they are in easy. While the majority look for the quickest easiest way (the shortcut) they look for the course of action which will produce the best results over the long term.

Summary Reflection

This was a very inspiring story and it shows that we can learn many things from little kids. Ian chose the right because he gave back the ball back to Nicholas. He had dropped the ball and a guy gave it to Ian, he had the chance to keep a souvenir from a baseball game. He saw Nicholas upset and went up to him to give him the ball. He got rewarded with a contract of 4 tickets to another baseball game and a bat signed by his favorite baseball player.

50 Habits of Successful People

Habits 36-43

36. They have a big engine. They work hard and are not lazy.

32. They are generous and kind. They take pleasure in helping others achieve.

33. They are humble and they are happy to admit mistakes and to apologize. They are confident in their ability, but not arrogant. They are happy to learn from others. They are happy to make others look good rather than seek their own personal glory.

Like many other things, money is a tool. It’s certainly not a bad thing but ultimately; it’s just another resource. Unfortunately, too many people worship it.

30. They understand the importance of discipline and self- control. They are strong. They are happy to take the road less traveled.
